Hercules Can Affect Flights to Norway

Today, the governors of New York and New Jersey declared a state of emergency as a major snowstorm, “Hercules” bore down on the north-east coast of United States, delaying or cancelling thousands of flights.  As a result of the snow storm, over 2,300 flights have been canceled so far.

This may have implications for passengers travelling to Norway, too. Norwegian Airlines has two departures to New York on Friday. Information Manager Lasse Sandakerveien-Nielsen says that weather can cause cancellations or delays in Oslo and Stockholm.

– We follow the weather situation closely. If it becomes necessary to delay or cancel, passengers will be notified, says he.

Another Scandinavian airline, SAS had a meeting in New York regarding the situation and assessed the situation yesterday. Information officer at SAS, Knut Morten Johansen said to VG that they had three aircraft that took off from New York yesterday, after the storm, and they will land in Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm as planned, he said. But he added they will update their passengers in terms of cancellation or delay.
