Activity Tips for This Weekend

1. Weekend Walk (No./Eng.): City Contrasts

The tour starts with a tour on the roof of the award-winning Opera House, and continues along the waterfront to the historic grounds of Akershus Fortress. 700 years of history lies between these famous Oslo landmarks.

Duration of walk: about 2 hours

Start: The lobby of Thon Hotel Opera

End: Akershus Fortress

The tours will be conducted in Norwegian and English. You can buy tickets directly from the guide – cash only.

Tours may be subject to change at short notice, and require comfortable walking shoes. All walking at own risk.

2. Organ recital

Afternoon recitals with different organists in the Oslo Cathedral.

3.Guided tour of the Munch Museum

Guided tours in English every day at 1 pm during the summer season.

The tour is free (included in the entrance ticket).

4.Balcony concert

This July, The Norwegian Opera and Ballet (Den Norske Opera & Ballett) hosts a series of matinee concerts with some of Norway’s foremost chamber musicians.

21 July: Kjerstin LĂžvdal, soprano, Ragnhild Motzfeldt, soprano and Kari Lise HĂžgseth, mezzo soprano, with Helge Evju, piano 

22 July: Jonas BĂ„tstrand, violin, Bendik BĂ„tstrand, piano and Linn Annett ErnĂž, flute

5.Blues cruise

Enjoy live music on a 3-hour cruise on an old, traditional wooden sailing ship. 

A traditional Norwegian prawn buffet (prawn “au naturelle”, lemon, mayonnaise, bread and butter) is included in the price.
