The controversial band, formed in 1984, currently consists of members Hellhammer (drums), Necrobutcher (bass/vox), Attila (vox), and live musicians Morfeus (guitar) and Silmaeth (guitar).
This ‘Terrorizer Black Mass’ will be held at the O2 Academy in Islington, where Mayhem will be preceded by several other metal bands including ‘Dragged into Sunlight’ and ‘Nathrakh’.
Terrorizer Magazine’s Miranda Yardley said “to be hosting Mayhem, Nathrakh and Dragged into Sunlight for this monumental show is a triumph in the history of Terrorizer and a more than fitting way to celebrate our 200th issue this year.”
Mayhem has over the years suffered a series of setbacks, especially with the suicide of vocalist Dead, and the murder of guitarist and original member Euronymous. Despite, or perhaps because of, the controversy, notoriety and tragedy surrounding them, the band is known as one of the true pioneers in Norwegian Black Metal history, and has produced numerous successful albums including ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’ (1994) and the latest ‘Ordo Ad Chao’ (2007).
