Norwegian Festival in Central Park

Last year, over 7,000 runners took part in the 1.7M Norway Run and the 13.7M half marathon Grete’s Great Gallop, while thousands more enjoyed Norwegian music, food and entertainment in the festival area from 8 am to 12 noon.

The Norwegian Festival is a great day for kids and families. Children aged 2-12 can run in the Troll Stroll and everyone can enjoy Isbre water from Norwegian sub-glaciers, free Vafler (waffles) from the Norwegian Seamen’s Church and Norwegian salmon tastings while listening to Norway’s indigenous people talking, dancing and telling stories about living in the far north. How about a photo of yourself and a polar bear on the front cover of National Geographic Adventure? Childrens and adults alike are welcome to try Sons of Norway Lillehammer Lodge’s Arctic quiz, learn more about Norwegian-American explorers and pioneers and meet some Norwegian fashion designers at the Design Stand.

The Norwegian Festival, Grethe’s Great Gallop and Norway Run are great ways to qualify for the New York Marathon and experience Central Park while enjoying the best of Norwegian music, food and culture.

One lucky winner of the Norwegian Festival Sweepstakes will receive a trip for two to Tromsø with Continental Airlines, run the Midnight Sun Marathon June 19, 2010, and stay three nights at the Clarion Bryggen Hotel (from June 17-20, 2010), the newest hotel in Tromsø – with an top roof jacuzzi with splendid view to mainland, Tromsø Bridge, The Arctic Cathedral and Mount Tromsdalstinden.

Runners also have a chance to win a trip to Norway courtesy of Kon-Tiki Travel, dinner at one of the Smorgaschef restaurants in NYC or gift packs from Appaman street cred kids clothing and Moods of Norway.
