He was arrested in Oslo on Monday and put in cell in Bærum Police Station in Sandvika, reports VG.Â
– There are reasonable grounds for suspicion of gross corruption. We regard the matter as serious and it is a priority, says chief investigator Liv Øyen in the Bureau of Police Affairs to VG.Â
Police leader denies guilt.Â
The accused police leader takes distance from what he is accused of in the indictment, and denied the claims about himself.
The police leader has for years held a key position in the Oslo police. He’s head of the gang project and participated in several of the largest investigations in the capital. Recently, the police officer worked as a consultant for police chief strategic unit. He has been working in the Oslo police since the early 1980s.Â
The Bureau does not want to comment about the basis for the charges against the police officer until they finish the tactical and technical investigation.Â
– We are at the very initial stage, and we consider the case is an extensive investigation with a number of steps. We need to track, says Øyen.Â
According to VG, the case against the police officer is connected to a major drug case in which a man in his 40s has been recently charged. In questioning the man in the 40s acknowledged storing a large quantity of hashish. The man in 40s has served in custody for several weeks, claims the newspaper.Â
There are also several other individuals arrested in the same case.
