Despite the large population growth, the registered crime in Oslo has decreased compared to the same period of last year.
In the first half of 2013, 42,300 cases were registered by the Oslo police. This was a decrease of 7.3% (3355 fewer reviews), compared with the same period in 2012.
– This is encouraging, especially as the population of Oslo has increased significantly in recent years, said Acting Police Chief Roger Andresen.
Despite the significant decrease in many criminal activities, crimes committed by youths under 18 has increased by 30 percent. The rate especially skyrocketed in May when traditional graduation celebrations frequently end up with serious cases.
