Pickpockets in Oslo Double in One Year

Police believe the reason for the sharp increase is the presence of substantially more professional, itinerant pickpockets in the country, writes Dagsavisen. The police also note that every three of four pickpocket cases happen in the capital.

Police believe there are between 200 and 300 pickpockets operating in Oslo. They have been able to identify over 100 different perpetrators, but have not arrested anyone.

Norwegian Police has created a special task force against pickpocket in August. 12 police officers are working in the group.
