25 of 27 police districts are missing enough police officers, according to newspaper Nationen. Police Directorate’s aim is to have two police officers per 1,000 inhabitants by 2020. However, today’s figure is 1.55.
– We must take steps to get the police to stay longer at work and police districts must receive higher allocations so that they can afford to hire more officers, said Per Sandberg.
He also said that he would prepare a proposal for a job guarantee to persons who graduate from law schools to meet the increasing need for trained police officers.
