Sp Politician Wants Alcohol Ban in Norwegian Parliament

– I was forced to drink more than I wanted. Finally I was fed up. Now I do not drink alcohol when I’m at work, says the Senter Partiet (Sp) MP Kjersti Toppe to Dagsavisen

Based on her own experience, she believes it is high time to get a more “sober” Parliament. Therefore, she suggests that beer sales in the parliamentary restaurant should be stopped.

She also thinks that all drinks should be soft when politicians are  invited to dinner by different organizations during the work hours.

– I will not be judgmental or moralizing, but I think it is a paradox that alcohol is so often served to the politicians, while there is broad political consensus that alcohol consumption in Norway must be reduced, says Toppe.
