This is the first meeting after Stoltenberg took over the leadership of the group from Gordon Brown. Stoltenberg will carry out the task with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.
The group was designed to produce practical suggestions for how to achieve the long-term financial goals from the climate summit in Copenhagen in 2009. About 100 billion dollars will be revenued to finance mitigation in developing countries per year from 2020. The money will come from both private and public sources.
Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo and ministers from both rich and poor countries will also attend to the group meeting. In addition, several economic experts in the group , including Lawrence Summers , George Soros and Nicholas Stern will be present. At the end of the meeting, the group will present its final report before the UN Climate Summit in Mexico in December.
