Norway has the highest increase in the number of Covid-19 infection in Europe.
From Tuesday to Friday last week, Norway set an infection record every day, writes NRK.
In the last week, the number of infected per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 14 days has gone from 690 to 934.
This means that Norway is the country in Europe where the infection increased fastest in the last week.
What caused the increase is uncertain. Among other things, it may depend on how many people test themselves.
-We are in a cold season and we are in a lot of contact with each other. Especially in younger age groups, there is a high increase in infection. They are close contacts and unvaccinated, says Assistant director of health ministry Espen Nakstad.
On Sunday, 331 corona patients were hospitalized. Never before has Norway had more hospitalized corona patients than now.
Eight-fold infection since October
Corona infection increased by 42 percent last week, an eightfold increase since mid-October, according to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI). The highest increase is among children, shows FHI’s weekly report from last week. 64 percent of all cases last week are under the age of 40.
