Massive Landslide in Norway: Hundreds of People Evacuated

Around 200 people have been evacuated, and several are injured after a major landslide occurred near the center of Ask in Gjerdrum. – It is a big and serious disaster, says mayor Anders Østensen to NRK.

The police evacuated the all residents at 04:00 on Wednesday night after a massive landslide in the center of Ask in Gjerdrum in Viken county.

In a press conference, the police say that they are now expanding the evacuation area after the landslide to be on the safe side. 

Earlier, the police announced in a press release that several people were missing. That is not true at the moment.

At least nine people are injured, but their conditions are not serious. One person was transported to UllevÄl, four to Ahus and five to the emergency room.
