Polar Bears Attacked Czech Tourists in Svalbard

According to TV2’s report, the attack happened at Fredheim in Svalbard on Thursday morning. The area is a popular destination for tourists.

Inspector Vidar Arnesen told TV2 that it was a tour group of six Czech tourists and they were attacked by a bear in the morning. One man suffered injuries on his face and an arm.

The other tour mates shot the bear and alerted the authorities. 

The group was on the ski and snowmobile tour on Svalbard and stayed overnight in tents.
