A New Peace Ring in Norway around an Oslo Mosque

On Saturday, thousands of people showed up to form a so-called “peace ring” around the synagogue in Oslo. The event attracted international attention when Norwegian Jews and Muslims stood together against terrorism, antisemitism and Islamophobia.

Now the symbolic event initiated a new peace ring in Oslo, named Solidaritetsring for muslimer (Solidarity ring for Muslims). This time, people will form a peace ring around a mosque in Oslo, writes TV2.

Organizers have created an event on Facebook with the following message:

– We are a group of people who will emphasize that we do not see the Muslims as a threat because of the increased fear and polarization in society, but an enrichment for the Norwegian society.

That is why they want to mark their solidarity and concern by forming a solidarity ring around the mosque. We are pleased that the Muslims are a part of our society and we find that they are a vulnerable minority in Norwegian society. We will mark this by forming a ring around the mosque in Motzfeldtsgate 10 on Saturday 28th February at 16.30. This is our way to thank for Peace Circle in front of the synagogue on 21st February, wrote the Facebook group.
