Oslo was competing with Beijing and Almaty for hosting 2022 Winter Olympics. The two cities are now the only contenders after most potential applicants pulled out.
Norway, which has hosted the Games twice and won more Winter Games medals than any other nation, quit the race after the ruling Conservative and Progress parties both declined support, asking the government to stop the application.
Last week Aftenposten had reported only 38% of the Norwegian people are positive to host the Games even if the costs are reduced. Previously only 26% were positive to the Games being held in Oslo.
