Progress Party Youth Branch Advocates Polygamy in Norway

At the annual meeting of Hedmark FpU on 7 December, it was decided to send a resolution to FPUS national convention to allow polygamy, which means that men and women can be married to several people at once in Norway.

“Hedmark Progress Party’s youth believe that the state should not interfere in people’s love affairs. Polygamy should be allowed as an individual lifestyle choice. Today’s marriage and partnership framework should be replaced by a new common law which is absolutely neutral, even when it comes to the number you want get married.”, writes the resolution.

– We are a liberal party, and it is important that people decide for thelselves, says Katrine Solberg, who is chairman of Hedmark FpU.

But Solberg adds that she wants strict regulation of polygamy, so that no one is forced into such marriages.
