Norway Will Reject Snowden’s Asylum Application

Foreign Ministry confirms that it has received Snow Its application for asylum.

– I can confirm that we received an application from Snowden through our embassy in Moscow on Monday afternoon, says deputy director Frode O. Andersen, to P4.

Also the Ministry of Justice confirms that Snowden has applied for asylum.

– We are informed of such an application, says the press officer of the Ministry Steffen Aagedal, reports the Norwegian news agency NTB

State Secretary Pål Lønseth from the Justice Ministry told Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation that the application will be rejected because Snowden was in Russia when he applied for asylum.

– According to Norwegian law, one can not seek asylum from abroad, and the normal procedure dictates that the asylum application of Edward Snowden will be rejected, says Lønseth.
