Landslides and Avalanches Closed Roads

While the people in southern part of the country enjoyed a sunny Easter holiday, emergency teams had a hectic Easter in north Norway. Over a thousand volunteers had to work in the mountains to assist people with minor or major accidents for over 3900 hours in one week.

– We recorded 950 injuries, 306 fetch quests, 38 search operations, 12 slides and ten varied missions, including wildfire and forest fire, reported LandsrĂĄd Director Ole Gladsø.

Also, 23 roads in Troms and Finnmark were closed due to avalanches or large landslides. Avalanche and landslide danger is still present in several areas of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark – in Lofoten, Harstad Narvik, VesterĂĄlen, Senja, Balsfjord, Tromsø and Alta. Moreover, the authorities warn against strong winds and wild fires.
