NRK and Bergens Tidende won IR award

This year’s International Report Award was split in two between Bergens Tidende (BT) and NRK focal point. The award was presented during SKUP conference gala dinner on Saturday night.

The two editors won an award for their journalism on the issue of trade in carbon credits – with their works «Oppgjørets time» (reckoning) on NRK focal point and «Spillet om klimakronene» (game on climate credits) on BT.

The jury of the award said that both laureates embarked on a complex, heavy and somewhat abstract policy area with far reaching global ramifications. Both projects demonstrate in an exemplary manner that these kinds of entries can be both engaging and educational through critical journalism. Both projects commended for thorough research and stylish visualizations. The award is still first and foremost a recognition of two significant and each under revealing contributions to both Norwegian and international climate debate.

About IR-Award

International Reporter’s Journalism Award (IR) recognizes a journalistic product which in an insightful, surprising and engaging way has shed light upon an international issue especially related to Africa, Asia or Latin-America.

The award was presented for the first time in 2010. It was then awarded to Inger Sunde and Harald Eraker for «Connecting people», a critical documentary about the mobile phone industry, that was aired on NRK Brennpunkt.

Aftenposten’s correspondent in South Asia, Kristin Solberg, received the award in 2011.
