Several experts in Norway believe that the motive behind the hostage case could be simply financial gain and the captors have received inside help. Kjell-Ola Kleiven, CEO of Risk Information Group, said to TV2 that they saw these kinds of motives in previous attacks.
The French newspaper Le Point also wrote that one of the captors on the gas plant have been called “north man”. The hostages freed once described this “north man” as high and blond. He was also talking with the Norwegian hostages in a non-English language.
One of the hostages said that most of the captors were African origin, but two of them were Europeans. One of the two foreigners was described as French, the other one as “north man”.
The Foreign Ministry has repeatedly denied that they have information about that one of the captors is Norwegian.
