High Level Security Measures in City Center

On Monday at 12, EU presidents greet audience from the Palace, and the Nobel ceremony starts at 13.00 in Oslo City Hall.

For the ceremony, police forces increased security measures in the city center.  Part of Karl Johans Gate, and Akershus Fortress were blocked for traffic. Police unit coordinator Kjell Jan Kverne said to TV2 that they are very well prepared.

Police Spends over 17 million

– This will be the most hectic day after over 20 leaders arrive. We follow them until they are out of Norwegian airspace, said Kverne.

According to the National Police Directorate, police spends between 10 and 17 million NOK for security measures in connection with the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to EU.
