Norway is to Have 2000 More Quota Refugees Every Year

The Immigration Directorate (UDI) presented figures on Thursday showing that so far in 2012, 4,600 asylum seekers have arrived in Norway. It is expected that a total of 9,000 asylum-seekers will come during the year.

– These figures show that the number of asylum seekers remain low. So I think it is time to increase the number of quota refugees, says Christian Democrat (KrF) politician Bekkevold to NTB.

He believes that the government’s aim to have 1,500 quota refugees per year is not enough.

– These are persons who have refugee status, and just waiting for a country that will accept them. I think Norway should take its responsibility and host more refugees, he says.
