Deputy Steinar Bergstøl Andersen in Kristiansand Progress Party (FrP) and the City Council representative Sissel Andersen (FRP) poposed that people who give money to beggars shall be fined 4,500 NOK.
The politicians suggested this solution can put an end to begging. Andersen will submit a proposal for fines of donors in Kristiansand Progress Party's next board meeting. He aims to make this proposal adopted as official policy of the party's local branches.
He says to NRK that the proposal is based on a similar scheme implemented in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
