The latest figures from the The Norwegian Directorate of Health show that half of all children in Northern Norway who are entitled to necessary medical care in psychiatry, can not get treatment in time. Moreover, Norwegian state broadcasting company NRK suggests all health authorities in the country violates the deadlines for the treatment of children and young people.
Talking to NRK, the mom of a boy diagnosed with ADHD said They waited for 7 months before they got help, and it was a hard struggle.
– It is terrible, it is cruel because it is a feeling of helplessness. You spend so much energy on finding ways and then get help, said she to NRK.
According to the report, the minimum waiting time for children is 70 days before they receive treatment, while adults wait for 50 days on average.
