A Latvian woman of 45 years and her 21 year old male assistant stole valuable cosmetics at duty-free shop in Rygge last week. But they were immediately arrested and had to pay a fine of NOK 2000, which corresponded to the value of the stolen goods.
However, this arrest could not stop them to make new plans. The thieves bought a new ticket to access to the Duty Free Shop at Gardermoen airport and have been caught with stolen perfume and tobacco for NOK 13,193.
The woman has been sentenced to 45 days imprisonment, while the young assistant will be in jail for 30 days.
Social Problem
The court believes that they traveled to Norway to commit theft. "Theft of this nature, specifically by the poorer people from Eastern Europe has developed into a significant social problem."
