Compared with the same period of last year, there have been seven percent fewer asylum seekers. In September, 866 persons sought asylum in Norway.
– The number of asylum seekers this year have been relatively stable from month to month. We have not signs of significant changes in this situation yet, says assistant director Frode Forfang at UDI.
So far this year, 638 unaccompanied minors applied for asylum. This is an increase by two percent compared to the same period in 2010. 85 percent of all applicants are boys. Nearly half of the applicants are from Afghanistan, while nearly 20 percent are from Somalia.
