Transport Association has announced that they need 1500-2000 new bus drivers annually according to Nationen. in this frame, the industry promotes the age limit for bus drivers to be lowered from 21 to 18 years so as to meet the recruitment challenges.
Most students who take professional driver education in high schools are under 21 years old when they graduate. Transport Association believes that the current Norwegian age requirement of 21 years for bus drivers does not fit into the existing educational objectives. The pilot project by the Ministry will therefore be the first step toward meeting industry's needs.
