Seven new Centres for Research-based Innovation

– The focus of the Centres for Research-based innovation shows how the government and the council give high priority to long-term research that strengthens the business and meets essential social challenges, "said Research Minister Tora Aasland.

The minister also noted that the interest and applications for the SFI scheme shows that they have strong research quality across the country and within a broad range of disciplines. She suggested that it is encouraging that new communities have won the competition.This public effort will contribute to increased research in business and this will make important contributions to innovation and future growth.

200 million annually

The seven new centers will receive up to 10 million per year for up to eight years. This represents a commitment to research-driven innovation of up to 560 million. In total, funding for centers from the Research Council now represent over 200 million annually.
