Till 2011, only the trains on routes of Oslo – Skien and Oslo – Lillehammer will offer free internet to the travelers.Transport Minister Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa said she is pleased that the competition with buses forces to have such a service.
– We know that there has been a desire to get free internet access on trains, and therefore we have decided that the internet will be introduced as a free service on the regional trains, says CEO Einar Enger.
Travellers on the route of Skien-Lillehammer will be the first to sign on to the Internet. The decision to offer customers free Internet came after NSB completed a pilot project on this particular route. On the other hand, internet will be continuously itroduced on NSB's all regional trains till 2011. As Rail secures mobile and broadband coverage in tunnels around Norway, they will improve the quality of the internet in the future.
