Toyota Recalls 111 Cars in Norway

"Toyota has a policy to put their customers first in all situations," said Tadashi Arashima, CEO of Toyota Motor Europe. "We understand that the current situation can cause concern, and we regret this deeply. We also want to reassure our customers, potential problem with the gas pedal happens only under very special circumstances. This recall is a precautionary measure to guarantee the highest security for all our customers. "

For the cars in question, the gas pedal – in special cases – locks in partial pressured position or release more slowly than normal. The problem is due to the degeneration of accelerator pedal mechanical parts. This problem can lead to increased friction and cause the gas pedal harder to use.

Toyota has found a solution to this problem and is currently working on a final evaluation and verification procedure. As soon as the necessary measures have been determined, Toyota will notify all customers and other interested parties how potential errors can be found and corrected.

Since there are so few cases, Toyota calls customers who have questions or concerns, to contact the local dealer (Dealer Guides) or customer service in their region.

The recall campaign is done to resolve a possible problem with the gas pedal. The affected models and production dates:

* AYGO (February 2005 – August 2009)

* IQ (November 2008 – November 2009)

* Yaris (November 2005 – September 2009)
