Four out of Ten Want to Move from the City

The Norwegian daily, Nationen asked the urban Norwegians whether they consider to stay in the city, small town, built-up areas, small farm or in a deserted place. The majority of the respondents agreed on more rural areas. In particular, people living in the capital, Oslo outnumbered in this answer.Additionally, the population of the country's major cities showed a similar trend with Oslo.

The details of the Survey:

“If you could choose freely, without any economic or other considerations, where would you live? In a city, town, urban areas, on a small farm or in a remote area? “

Total for all respondents in the survey, answers as follows:

21 percent will live in urban

31 percent will stay in town

26 percent will closely settled areas

19 percent will stay at the farm

3 percent will live in deserted areas

Amongst those living in rural areas, the answers as follows:

7 percent will live in urban

10 percent will stay in town

31 percent will closely settled areas

45 percent will stay at the farm

7 percent will live in deserted areas

Among those who live in the village, answers as follows:

Eight percent will live in urban

24 percent will stay in town

48 percent want to densely populated areas

15 percent will stay at the farm

Two percent will live in deserted areas

Among those living in towns with between 5.000 and 50.000 inhabitants, the responses distributed as follows:

9 percent will live in urban

58 percent will live in small town

20 percent want to densely populated areas

10 percent will stay at the farm

3 percent will live in desert areas

Among those living in cities with over 50.000 inhabitants, benefits, answers as follows:

38 percent will live in urban

34 percent will stay in town

15 percent want to densely populated areas

11 percent will stay at the farm

Two percent will live in desert areas

Among those who live in Oslo, benefits, answers as follows:

63 percent will live in urban

17 percent will stay in town

10 percent want to densely populated areas

10 percent will stay at the farm
