In September, 1 612 applications for asylum have been registered to the Immigration Office(UDI). There is a decline of 12 percent compared to August.
The statistics published by UDI shows that 366 asylum seekers have come from Afghanistan. Afghanistan was followed by Eritrea (251), Somalia (153), stateless (144) and Russia (108).
So far this year, UDI received 13 379 asylum applications. Approximately 20 percent of those who have sought asylum in Norway will have their case dealt with in another European country. It is expected the process of granting right to reside in Norway will be more difficult with the new law frame accepted by the new government last week.
