Record Number of deportation from Norway

This year, the Police Immigration Unit (PU) deported 2600 people. It is the highest figure for many years, and 600 more than the same period of the previous year. Most of the expelled people were citizens of Nigeria, Somalia and Romania.

The deported ones have either been rejected as asylum seeker or expelled as a result of the offenses they committed in Norway. It was also reported that many without legal residence choose to return home voluntarily.
