A group of researchers in Trondheim will use ultrasound to detect physical soundness of infants as early as in the twelfth week.
According to the statistics, 90 percent of abortion cases take place in the 18th week of pregnancy.
If the research becomes successful, the physical situation of the infants will be discerned earlier. However, experts are anxious about the fact that the success of the survey may trigger a high number of abortions in cases of mentally and physically disabled infants.
