Christopher Harlem (41) and his childhood friend Ole Christian Sandberg invested NOK 300 000 to start the company 20 years ago.
Now Harlem sells some part of his shares to a Chinese investment company Reignwood, writes Dagens Næringsliv.
– It is absolutely fantastic. In recent years, Voss has been a financial investment for me. Sometimes I wondered if the company would survive. It feels as if the dream is achieved, despite all challenges, says Harlem.
Voss is a Norwegian brand of bottled water from the village of Vatnestrøm in Iveland municipality, Aust-Agder county. Contrary to popular belief, the water is not bottled in the municipality of Voss, which is more than 400 kilometres away from the actual bottling site. It is available in both still and sparkling forms.
Voss is bottled by Voss of Norway ASA, a Norwegian Limited Company headquartered in Oslo and New York City. The water is marketed in over 50 countries, with a particular focus on the United States.
The company’s cylindrical glass bottle was designed by Neil Kraft. Voss claims its manufacturing process is completely carbon neutral. In the US, VOSS still water is also packaged in plastic bottles that retain the cylindrical design.
