Talking to Dagens Næringsliv, CEO of MTR Nordic, Peter Viinapuu said they follow closely the kind of opportunities for acquisition of both express train and Oslo Metro.
He said that the Nordic countries are an important growth market for MTR because of the low risk of corruption and deregulation in the transportation. He also refers to the acquisition of the subway in Stockholm five years ago, and says Oslo Metro is in their interest zone.
– We have discussed with Oslo Municipality. In Stockholm we have seen that privatization resulted in increased satisfaction and improved punctuality, says Viinapuu.
Transport Commissioner of Oslo Municipality, Guri Melby (V) says it is unacceptable to discuss the privatization of public transport in Oslo now.
