“We are committed to breaking the link between our products and deforestation. We have an ambition to help preserve the rainforest. We will therefore replace palm oil with alternatives that are better to do from a health and environmental perspective”, says Håkon Magel , the director of Orkla.
It is encouraging that such a major player from Norway now follows the footsteps of other international companies like Nestlé and L’Oréal in caring about environment. The efforts from NGOs cannot be ignored. “This was prepared in close collaboration with the Regnskogfondet(Rainforest Foundation)and Greenpeace” , Orkla said .
“We are pleased that Orkla has listened to our suggestions and introduced their own Orkla standard for sustainable palm oil” , says Erika Bjureby , head for the forest campaign for Greenpeace Nordic.
