Growth in Pelagic Fish Exports in Norway

This is an increase of NOK 287 million or 22 per cent compared to October last year, according to the latest figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council.

Exports of mackerel in October were up in value by 33 per cent to NOK 1.2 billion compared to the same month last year. The volume of exports in October totalled no less than 101,000 tonnes.

Norway’s mackerel quota for the year will soon have been landed,” says Kristin Lien, senior analyst with the Norwegian Seafood Council. “Catches have been up compared to last year, although the mackerel have been smaller in size. However, despite the smaller size mackerel have still been fetching good prices this season.”
