Minister of Petroleum and Energy Supports Relocation in Statoil

The company plans to move 1,000 jobs to low cost countries to cut costs which raised resentment in Labor and Socialist parties but the government represnetative said plans are in line with the government’s wishes.

– If Statoil will be viable over time, we have to continue conducting the same policy as we did for the last 40 years with resounding success: Restructuring to ensure value creation and new jobs. Statoil is a Norwegian company with headquarters in Norway, but that does not mean that everything will continue as before, says Ola Borten Moe.

The jobs which are considered to move to low-cost countries by 2020 is in IT, Engineering and Management, HR and Finance industries.
