Organic Farmers Double Their Income

According to figures from the Norwegian Agricultural Economics Research Institute (NILF), annual income has increased by 14 percent in the conventional dairy operation and the increase for the organic producers has been 30 percent.

The additional available grants, higher subsidy and inflation are the main factors making organic farmers’ profitability improved, according to NILF report.

The inflation difference only in organic and regular milk prices in five years represents nearly 10,000 NOK of the income difference, according to NILF.

NILF figures also show that the the priority to use natural resources for organic production provides the best profitability to the farmes.
