Raid against Norwegian Telecommunication Giant, Telenor

The investigation is carried out pursuant to Articles 53 and 54 of the EEA Agreement and comprises mobile communication services at wholesale and retail level in Norway, including voice, SMS, MMS and data, as well as mobile services sold in bundles that include other products/services.

ESA said that they have reason to believe that the company may have violated the rules of the EEA Agreement .

– We have information about the possbiility of a breach of competition rules in the mobile phone market in Norway, and we believe it is necessary to go on an inspection to see whether there has been any violation, said Director General of ESA’s competition department, Per Andreas Bjørgan to TV2.

Telenor, in return, said that they have strict internal rules and procedures on compliance with laws and regulations.

– Telenor will co-operate with the authorities in carrying out the investigation so that it can be conducted in an efficient manner. Besides this, Telenor has currently no further comments on this issue, wrote they in a press release.
