NHO Calls For Better Skilled Graduates from Norwegian Universities

The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) director general wants closer cooperation between educational institutions and the Norwegian industry.

– We need more engineers, but these engineers should have useful skills. The point is that Norwegian companies are increasingly demanding highly skilled labor, says Lund to NTB.

She points out that Norway is an expensive country and employee expertise is decisive in Norwegian companies’ success in international competition.

Lund also stressed that industry representatives must take their share of responsibility for the education of the needed manpower.

– There will always be uncertainty about developments in the business. We have no good methods to determine the expertise we need. But we can say with certainty that we need more engineers and more people who know the language and culture of our main trading partners, she said.

In his speech at the meeting of the Higher Education Institutions in Hamar on Wednesday, she also proposed to use the Loan Fund strategically by providing higher scholarships to students who choose the subjects they need.
