Norwegian Center Party Will Nationalize Private Airports

While the national election in Norway approach, political parties announce their election pledges. the coalition member, Sp declared its draft program yesterday. Accordingly, the private airports Rygge and Torp must be nationalized. The party advocates Avinor to take over Moss Airport Rygge and Sandefjord Airport Torp, writes Finansavisen.

The party believes that this must be done to protect the main airport at Gardermoen. Proceeds from Gardermoen finances operations at over 40 airports in districts in deficit.

– Gardermoen is the engine, and the surplus is used here to support the STOL (short takeoff and landing) network. It continues to be an advantage to see the entire airport operations in one hand, says Agriculture Minister and leader of Sps program committee, Trygve Slagsvold Vedum.

Neither Labor or Socialist Left Party is in favor of nationalization as an important part of the transportation structure in the country.
