Positive Forecast for Harvest Season

This year's first crop forecast is 11 percent above average of the last five years. The assessment is based on the current situation, and is subject to a normal development in relation to the further growth and harvest. This year's forecast is 28 per cent higher than last year's crop. At the same time, the experts warned it is too early to forecast the relationship between food and harvest.

After an average temperature below normal in May and June, there was a good weather condition for harvest in most areas of Norway in July. There are reports of fine fields at about the average in the major grain counties in Eastern Norway, while there is tremendous variation in Norway, which started the season with high rainfall and late spring.

Good quality so far

So far, the quality of the harvested crops was good with large grains with high hectograms. Bioforsk and the Norwegian Agricultural Consulting has relatively equal numbers in their assessments. Accordingly, the total crop of this year has reached to 1.2 million tonnes. Committee of the Joint acquisition has also released the results of this year , and announced the amount as 1.3 million tons.

Bioforsk is a research institute with expertise at the international level in agriculture, food production, plant health, environment and resource management, and is organized under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food as a management institute.
