Finnish Ruukki Builds Bridges in Norway

Ruukki has signed a contract for an extensive delivery entity for a transport infrastructure project in Fredrikstad, Southern Norway. Ruukki’s delivery includes steel structures, including installation, for Krakeroy bascule bridge and steel piles for the bridge foundations. The order is worth a total of around EUR 5 million. The structures for the 100-meter long bridge will be delivered to Skanska Norge AS and the piles to Nordenfjeldske Spunt og Peleservice AS. The bridge structures will be manufactured at Ruukki’s Sandnessjøen works in Norway and the steel piles at the Oulainen works in Finland. Delivery of the piles for the bridge foundations is already under way. Manufacture of the structures will begin in late 2009 and installation work will be completed in spring 2010. Krakeroy bridge will open for traffic in autumn 2010.
