The Government will establish a guarantee scheme for the purchase of power on long terms in power intensive industry in the 2010 budget. The scheme will have a frame of 20 billion NOK.
“-The new plan will secure jobs in industry. With this, we will have a good new system that contributes to long-term power contracts,” said Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
The system will reserve the power intensive industry in the lumber and wood products, wood, chemical products and metals and also other sectors having an annual consumption of at least 10 GWh. Guarantees will only be given to energy agreements with a duration of at least 7 years.
The new power regime covers the long-term predictable energy contracts and aims at
energy efficiency in industry.
