Women Have Higher Sickness Absence than Men

The latest NAV figures on sickness absence show that women have 60 percent higher sickness absence than men, compared to 50 percent in 2001. Then the absence for sick children are not even taken, writes Aftenposten.

The trend has been the same for the last 30 years, but women’s life expectancy is still longer than men, so women’s health is generally good.

Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion {Anniken Huitfeldt} says they do not know the reasons why women are more ill than men, it is also difficult to implement measures aimed specifically at women’s absence. Now she will have input from trade unions and employers’ associations to reduce sickness absence.
