Norway’s Integration Minister: – Russia is Safe for Deported Refugees

Last week it became clear that some asylum seekers in Norway can be returned to Russia with buses. In Sør-Varanger in Finnmark, a group of asylum seekers started a hunger strike in protest against the decision. The proposal is also criticized with the fear of inhumane treatment in the destination country. 

However, Listhaug considers Russia to be a safe third country.

Talking to NRK, Listhaug states that they cannot allows every asylum seekers who reach to Norway to stay. 

-If Norway will accept those who are entitled to protection, we have to send back those who are not, said the immigration minister.
