Afghanistan to Close Its Borders for Forced Returns from Norway

Before Christmas Justice Minister Anders Anundsen announced that they may forcibly return the long remaining asylum seeking families including children. Afghan authorities warned Anundsen against the forced return of the children in a written statement after one month, writes Bergens Tidende.

Afghan Foreign Ministry pointed out that Afghanistan is a dangerous place to be, the country has huge economic problems, and there is a lack of shelter, jobs and education.

The authorities refer to the return agreement with Norway and asks that familiesā€™ return hereafter must be voluntary. “… Otherwise they will be rejected for entry into Afghanistan,” wrote the protest letter.Ā
