Siv Jensen Re-elected as Leader of Norway Progress Party

Progressive Party (FrP) national convention is held on Sunday. Current leader and finance minister Siv Jensen is re-elected at the convention.  One of the most surprising development was the return of Os mayor Terje Søviknes to central committee of the party.

Soviknes was elected to the central committee for the first time in 1995. But, he had to resign as deputy chairman and from all other policy positions at the party in 2001 after it was revealed that he had had sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl after a national congress of the Progress Party’s youth branch.

FrP’s two deputy leaders Ketil Solvik Olsen and Per Sandberg did not stand for the election, while Justice Minister Anders Anundsen renewed his position in the central committee.
